What the cleaning does

On request we clean your record in our Klaudio ultrasonic machine before it ships and check it by eye. In my experience this pays off with new records too: pressing can leave residues, and a clean groove is kinder to your cartridge.

This means opening the shrink wrap – your record arrives cleaned in your parcel. From €5 per record, depending on the album.

I am aware and agree, that the Record will be put out of the original shrink wrap (this will be included to the delivery).

Hope is Hugh Masekela in concert at Blues Alley, drawing South African memory, jazz improvisation and direct political address into one long evening. “Abangoma” opens the programme with chant, percussion and ensemble movement before the flugelhorn takes flight. “Grazing in the Grass” returns to his most widely recognised melody with playful energy, while “Stimela (The Coal Train)” becomes the dramatic centre: spoken narrative, vocal imitation and mounting rhythm turn history into immediate theatre.

The album’s power comes from range as much as intensity. “Uptownship” is buoyant and sharply rhythmic; “Mandela” carries public meaning without losing the character of a song; “Ntyilo Ntyilo” draws the room toward tenderness. “Ha Le Se (The Dowry Song)” adds another dimension, pairing an immediately communicative vocal refrain with ensemble movement that feels communal. The live setting permits pieces to develop at their own pace, with audience response reinforcing rather than interrupting the arc. Masekela is bandleader, storyteller, singer and horn player, and the musicians respond to each role without breaking the concert’s flow. This is a substantial live document, not a collection of detached highlights. Its sequence shows how celebration, exile, anger and humour coexist within his musical world.

This Analogue Productions edition is the four-LP, 180-gram box cut at 45 RPM. Its expanded configuration distinguishes it from the two-LP edition of the same album and makes the complete programme the centre of a large-format collector presentation. Michael 45 keeps the goods in Germany and dispatches from Hilden, so no private US import or customs wait is required.

How Michael hears this edition

Listening impression · paraphrased from the video

Michael compares the 45 RPM box with his already highly regarded AP 33⅓ RPM edition, hearing still greater dynamics, a larger soundstage and more clarity on the 45 RPM.
