Vinyl record cleaning service: new and used records with the Klaudio

When you buy, we clean your new record before it ships – and your own records can be dropped off at the Vinyl Room in Düsseldorf.

In short

At Michael 45 you can have your vinyl records cleaned in the Klaudio ultrasonic machine: new records right when you buy them, before they ship, from €5 per record – and your own used records when you drop them off at the Vinyl Room in Düsseldorf, for €7, or €5 per record from two records. In my experience, cleaning pays off with new records too: pressing can leave residues, and a clean groove is kinder to your cartridge.

Two ways to a clean record

  • When you buy a record. You add the cleaning on the product page, we clean your new record before it ships and send it to you.
  • Your own records. Drop off used records from your collection at the Vinyl Room in Düsseldorf and pick them up clean. Mail-in is not possible.

Why new records deserve a clean too

A new record comes fresh from the pressing plant – and that is exactly the point. Pressing records is not a perfectly clean process: residues from production can stay on the surface. The Klaudio lifts them out of the groove before the stylus touches down for the first time. In my experience you can hear the difference – and it is especially kind to your cartridge, because the stylus runs through a clean groove.

“Pressing records is not an extremely clean process. Even with new records it is worth cleaning them with the Klaudio, because it removes residues from record production. And you can hear it.”Michael 45 · translated from German

What the Klaudio does

The Klaudio is an ultrasonic record cleaning machine. Transducers on both sides of the record create tiny bubbles in the water bath that loosen dirt from the groove; a blower then dries the record without touching it. According to the manufacturer, the KD-CLN-LP200T is designed for use without detergent, and a cycle takes 3 to 9 minutes depending on the settings.

We run it with Klaudio’s automatic disc loader, so several records go through one after another – quietly, under the acrylic hood of the Silencer case.

  • Clean and dry. The record goes through the Klaudio.
  • Inspect. Then we check the record by eye.
  • Pack. Into the original sleeve or, if you added them, into new inner and outer sleeves.
  • Ship. From Hilden, like every order.

What it costs
