Foxtrot is Genesis discovering how far a rock album can stretch without losing narrative momentum. Peter Gabriel, Tony Banks, Mike Rutherford, Steve Hackett and Phil Collins move between pastoral detail, social satire, science-fiction scale and long-form drama. The music is ambitious, yet its power comes from contrast: a small acoustic gesture can prepare the ground for an enormous ensemble passage.
“Time Table” places Banks’s piano beneath a meditation on vanished order, its restrained melody offering a human-sized room after the album’s imposing opening. “Get ’Em Out by Friday” is something else entirely: Gabriel changes characters as a housing dispute expands into a bleak vision of bodies engineered to fit more tenants into less space. Hackett’s “Horizons” then clears the stage with solo acoustic guitar, a brief composition whose delicacy is structural rather than decorative. It leads directly to “Supper’s Ready,” the side-long suite that joins lovers, ritual, battle and renewal across linked sections. The shift into “Apocalypse in 9/8” is one of the album’s decisive moments: Banks’s repeating keyboard figure and Collins’s drums create an unstable ground while Gabriel’s vocal rises through it. The concluding return does not simply repeat earlier material; it gives the whole journey a sense of arrival.
This version of Foxtrot is presented across two LPs at 45 RPM. Its four-side configuration gives the album a distinct physical identity beside the single-disc edition while retaining the complete musical sequence. It is a compelling object for collectors who value the classic five-member Genesis line-up, progressive rock with genuine dramatic logic and an album designed to be followed from first scene to final resolution. Michael 45 keeps the records in Germany and sends them from Hilden, allowing customers to avoid arranging a personal US import and waiting for customs processing.
