Daylight Again as a hybrid stereo SACD from the Atlantic 75 Series, mastered by Chris Bellman directly from the original master tape. Eleven tracks in one sequence – from “Turn Your Back On Love” to the closing “Daylight Again/Find The Cost Of Freedom”.
Classic harmonies in a new decade
Daylight Again carries Crosby, Stills and Nash into a new musical decade without giving up the vocal bond at the heart of their identity. The album began around Stephen Stills and Graham Nash before David Crosby re-entered the picture – and you can feel that history in its changing perspectives. Acoustic guitars and close harmony now share the space with polished keyboards and a broader studio palette.
“Turn Your Back On Love” opens with urgency, the layered voices driving the chorus rather than decorating it. Nash’s “Wasted On The Way” moves more lightly, looking back at lost time while the harmonies suggest repair is still possible. “Southern Cross” grows from Stills’s lead vocal into a wide, unforgettable refrain – a sea voyage that becomes a way to think about heartbreak, distance and recovery.
Crosby’s “Delta” changes the atmosphere again: the rhythm hangs suspended, and his voice moves through the arrangement with the inward, unusual melodic logic only he brings to the trio. At the close, the title piece links present unease with historical conflict and then leads into “Find The Cost Of Freedom” as a brief, sober coda. Maturity here is not certainty – these voices carry history, disagreement and endurance whenever they meet.
