What the cleaning does

On request we clean your record in our Klaudio ultrasonic machine before it ships and check it by eye. In my experience this pays off with new records too: pressing can leave residues, and a clean groove is kinder to your cartridge.

This means opening the shrink wrap – your record arrives cleaned in your parcel. From €5 per record, depending on the album.

I am aware and agree, that the Record will be put out of the original shrink wrap (this will be included to the delivery).

Dusty in Memphis is a meeting of one of Britain’s most exacting interpreters with songs and musicians rooted in American soul. “Just a Little Lovin’” opens quietly, Dusty Springfield placing each word with patience while the rhythm section lets the invitation remain intimate. Her control is so complete that restraint carries more emotion than display.

“Son of a Preacher Man” brings a firmer groove and a narrative remembered through physical detail. Springfield’s phrasing stays poised inside the rhythm, neither imitating Southern singers nor holding herself apart from the material. “I Don’t Want to Hear It Anymore” builds pressure through a carefully shaped lyric, while “Breakfast in Bed” balances tenderness and emotional complication. The arrangements use guitar, keyboards, bass, drums, horns and backing voices to create distinct settings around her. The album’s unity comes from interpretation: Springfield listens to what each song is really saying and chooses tone, timing and intensity accordingly. “The Windmills of Your Mind” tests Springfield with a long, circling lyric, and she keeps every image intelligible without flattening its dream logic. It is another example of technique disappearing into the act of interpretation.

This Analogue Productions edition presents Dusty in Memphis across two LPs at 45 RPM. That format distinguishes this collector’s version from the single-disc 33⅓ RPM edition and places the expanded two-disc layout at the centre. Michael 45 holds the goods in Germany and ships from Hilden, allowing customers in Germany and the EU to avoid organising a private US import or waiting for customs processing.

How Michael hears this edition

Listening impression · paraphrased from the video

Michael compares this earlier Analogue Productions 45 RPM edition with the later Atlantic 75 edition. On the main album, he hears no differences that he considers worth mentioning. In his view, listeners primarily interested in the music remain well served by this edition; he assesses packaging and bonus-track differences separately.
