John Coltrane – A Love Supreme (45 RPM 200 Gram Clarity Vinyl)

A Love Supreme is John Coltrane’s four-part suite of gratitude, discipline and spiritual commitment. Recorded in December 1964 with McCoy Tyner, Jimmy Garrison and Elvin Jones, it brings the classic quartet’s musical language into unusually concentrated form. The work has a declared programme—“Acknowledgement,” “Resolution,” “Pursuance” and “Psalm”—but it never depends on explanation. Motif, rhythm and the intensity of four musicians listening make the journey complete.

In “Acknowledgement,” Garrison introduces the four-note cell that becomes the suite’s foundation. Coltrane tests it in different positions and keys before his voice joins the performance, turning the motif into a repeated invocation. “Pursuance” opens with Jones in a turbulent drum feature, then drives into a fierce tenor improvisation and a bass statement from Garrison. “Psalm” changes the terms again. Coltrane shapes his saxophone line according to the rhythm of a written devotional text, allowing an unheard poem to determine the rise, pause and fall of the melody. Tyner’s chords and Jones’s cymbals create a luminous frame around that recitation.

Analogue Productions presents A Love Supreme as a UHQR edition on two 45 RPM LPs made from 200-gram Clarity Vinyl. Four sides and the series’ elaborate box give the suite a ceremonial physical scale while keeping its sequence intact. For collectors, the format invites an attentive return to music whose power lies equally in structure, improvisation and purpose. Michael 45 holds the edition in Germany and ships from Hilden, so customers in Germany and the EU can order without arranging an individual import from the United States or waiting for customs processing.
