A photograph across both inside panels, lyrics, credits: a gatefold is meant to be opened. This sleeve is designed around that construction. It wraps around the opening jacket and moves with it, so you do not need to remove the entire outer sleeve every time you want to look inside the album.
One sleeve, two jacket panels
The double-length construction is folded at the centre and accessible at both ends. Two tuckable flaps hold the arrangement together, while a central relief cut helps it close. The clear CPP film is 4 mil thick. The sleeve arrives folded at the centre, matching its intended shape around the album.
Choose carefully by jacket size
The 12″ version is intended for standard gatefold jackets. Mint gives approximately 651 × 321 mm for the opened sleeve, with a tolerance of around 2–3 mm. The existing shop description limits suitable jacket panels to approximately 320 × 320 mm and modest thickness. These dimensions are guidance, not a fit guarantee for every edition. Do not force an oversized jacket into place: spine thickness also affects the fit.
A ready-made gatefold sleeve or Michael’s method
This pack supplies ten ready-made gatefold outer sleeves, with one sleeve intended for each suitable gatefold jacket. It is a separate alternative to Michael’s preferred arrangement using two joined DP4R12 sleeves. Both arrangements protect the jacket. The records themselves still need separate inner sleeves, one for each disc.
Quick answers
Can I open the gatefold with the sleeve fitted?
Yes. The sleeve is designed to open with the gatefold like a book.
Will every audiophile double LP fit?
No. Label, record weight and disc count do not establish the fit. Check the height, width and spine thickness of the specific jacket.
